Sarah Annis Haynes was raised in the small New England town of Windsor, CT where her appreciation of antiques and the history objects carry with them is rooted. She has a Bachelor of Liberal Arts from the University of Connecticut, where her love of both art and literature were united, strengthening her sculptural expressions. Ms. Haynes has been reviewed by Chet Hardin and her work has been exhibited at galleries such as the Risley Gallery in Litchfield, AX Gallery in Torrington, Real Art Ways in Hartford, and Kent State University.
Artist Statement
Working with found objects, antique fixtures, and cultural ephemera, my sculptures recontextualize everyday items into poetic reflections on memory and human connection. Gathering these materials—an affinity developed during antiquing excursions with my late father—forms the core of my creative process.
What originated as intimate, enclosed shadow box studies has expanded into spatial assemblages and installations. Through reinterpreting recognizable objects, the work explores how physical pieces retain personal histories and bridge emotional experiences across time.
